Meanwhile, Abhay Pathak on Friday moved the Orissa High Court seeking bail. Earlier, his bail plea had been rejected by the Special Vigilance Court, Bhubaneswar.

In another development, the Commissionerate police has shot off a letter to the management of Tata Motors Ltd seeking clarity on arrested IFS officer Ajay Kant Pathak’s son Akash Kumar Pathak’s association with the company.

The Kharavela Nagar police have written to the company to find out if Akash’s claim of being the Tata Motors’ managing director is true.

Earlier, the company had lodged a complaint with the State’s Crime Branch police against Akash accusing him of committing forgery impersonating as the company’s MD.

The company in its FIR had mentioned that Akash has taken huge amounts of money fraudulently from unemployed youths on the pretext of jobs in the company. Akash impersonated as MD of Tata Motors Pune Passenger Division and CEO-designate, the FIR stated.

Besides, a case was registered against Akash and his father Abhay for allegedly cheating travel agency Sky King of more than Rs 65 lakh. Akash posing as MD of Tata Motors sent mails and other forged documents and booked chartered flights and hotel rooms worth Rs 2.78 crore since June 2020.
