Police and excise officials on Wednesday continued the crackdown against illegal narcotics trade and seized 1.4 kg of brown sugar in two separate incidents in Jaleswar of Baleswar district and also arrested two persons in this connection.
The value of the seized contraband was estimated to be around Rs 1.4 crore. In the first incident, acting on inputs, a Jaleswar police team led by IIC Pragyan Mohanty conducted a raid and seized 780 gram of brown sugar and arrested a peddler, Amina Bibi, of Rajpura village.In another incident, excise officials led by Assistant Commissioner Askok Satpathy seized 620 gram of brown sugar from one Sk Rafique (27) and arrested him. Rafique is also a resident of the Rajpura police station area under the Jaleswar police station.
