In a major success against illegal drugs trade, the Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch (CB) seized brown sugar worth Rs 1.30 crore near Khordha Bypass on NH-16 on Thursday.
Acting on intelligence inputs, the STF conducted a raid and nabbed a youth identified as SK Anwar alias Pintu, a resident of Muslimsahi under Kaipadar police station in Khordha distrcit.During search, the officials recovered brown sugar weighing 1. 310 kg from his possession. They arrested Pintu after he failed to produce any valid document in support of possession of the contraband.
Later, he was forwarded to court after a complaint was lodged under different sections of the NDPS Act. Further investigations are on the case to unearth more information, an official said.
