As for the first time the State Government would make the DGP selection as per the Supreme Court guidelines, incumbent DGP Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma might be appointed as a Lokayukta Member within a couple of months.
The process for this has already begun. Sources said the selection committee has recommended Sharma’s name to the Governor for his appointment as a Lokayukta Member. The notification in this regard is likely to be published after approval by the Governor.
As per the apex court guidelines, a list of names recommended by the State Government would be sent to the UPSC for the new DGP appointment.
Sources said that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik may recommend the list of officers of 1986, 1987 and 1988 batches to the Centre for the new DGP appointment.
