A 10-year-old Royal Bengal Tiger named “Manish” under treatment at the Nandankanan zoo hospital for the past six months died on Sunday.

“The tiger was suffering from blood protozoan disease caused by a lethal virus Cytauxzoon felis. The disease has no proven treatment,” informed a senior zoo official.

With Manish’s death, the zoo famous for its tiger population and captive breeding of the big cat is now left with 11 male and 13 female tigers.
