The BJP on Thursday severely criticised Agriculture Minister Damodar Rout for referring to Anganwadi Workers as ‘Swamichhadi, Anganwadi’ (quitting husbands, joining Angwanwadis) at a public meeting in Jajapur district on Wednesday.
“Minister Rout has denigrated women of the State by making an unsavoury remark on Angawadi Workers. His remark is very shameful. The Minister has lost his mental balance due to old age and should be put into a metal hospital for treatment at the earliest,” demanded BJP Mahila Morcha State president Prabhati Parida.
Parida demanded that Rout should either resign from his post or tender an apology in the public within 24 hours. Otherwise, the BJP Mahila Moarch would take to the streets, she threatened.
