Rout expelled from BJD

Finally, as expected, Paradip MLA and former Minister Damodar Rout was expelled from the BJD for anti-party activities on Wednesday evening.

BJD State secretary Bijay Nayak told mediapersons that Dr Rout was dismissed by party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

On Tuesday, Jagatsinghpur BJD leaders led by Balikuda-Erasama MLA Prashant Muduli had pleaded with Patnaik to take action against Rout for his activities and utterances that were damaging the party.

Notably, Rout had last year been sacked from the Ministry and BJD vice-president post as well as from the post of party observer for some districts because of his statements casting aspersions against the Brahmin community and Anganwadi Workers.
