A team of police from the Government Railway Police (GRP) went to Jharkhand on Monday evening in connection with investigation of the much publicised gang rape of an engineering college student of the city. Although the team reportedly has started searching to nab the culprits, no significant progress in the case has been made so far.

Sources said, after completion of medical check up on Monday, the victim girl had gone back to her house, since her health was not well.

Police although intended to take the victim girls to the spot of  crime, it was not possible, since she reportedly had not recovered fully.

"We are investigating into the matter with our team based in Jharkhand now and we plan to take the victim girl to the spot, as soon as she recovers fully," said Railway SP AP Swain.

Significantly, the alleged rape of the engineering student had come to the fore on Monday after lodging of a complaint with the GRP, Rourkela. According to the allegation, the girl reportedly had come in trap of a person, while on her way to home, who had introduced himself as her brother's friend. The youth allegedly had taken her towards Chakradharpur instead of Jhrasuguda after getting down at the Lotapahar station and raped her along with four other youths.
