The Rotary Club here organised a seminar on implementation of the Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting System (RRHS) on Sunday.
Attending as the chief guest, the district Collector SR Yadav stressed upon the conservation of rainwater. He also said due to rapid urbanisation, the scope of natural groundwater recharge is being reduced day by day. This situation would eventually lead to water table depression and water quality degradation. Rainwater conservation and ground water recharge practices are essentially required to be adopted for sustainable groundwater management, he added.
The RRHS’s implementation in buildings is now very much important to augment groundwater recharge, enhance the water table and improve water quality in the urban areas, opined administrators, Rotarians and technical persons present in the seminar.
Among others, Rotary District Governor Sibabrata Dash, G Thomas, Rotary Chairman NK Mishra, GB Pattanaik, Sambhu Jagatramka, Dharanidhar Nath, Arun Dash, SK Patjoshi, Ajay Agrawalla, BR Mohanty, Satyananda Swain and Alok Sahoo spoke.
