A training-cum-workshop on rooftop /kitchen garden followed by an exhibition on safe food was jointly organised on the eve of world Kitchen Garden Day by the Kitchen Gardeners’ Association,
NIRMAN, Ekamra Walkers Club Sanskrutik Samiti, Bhubaneswar and IGSSS, New Delhi, here on Sunday.
The programme was attended by the representatives of NGOs, corporate bodies, Government officials
who shared their ideas
and experience on rooftop gardening / kitchen gardening. Environmentalist and activist Prof Radhamohan, GM, NABARD Anup Kumar, IES, CEO, IED Samarendra Sahoo, former Director of Horticulture Dr SN Behera, RD,
RCOF Dr AS Rajput, Councilor, BMC Saswati Mishra, Principal
Scientist, ICAR-CIWA Dr Sabita Mishra, Director, NIRMAN Prasant Mohanty, Suresh Bisoyi and Ekadashi Nandi attended as guests and shared their views.
The participants present in the workshop were also taught on how to formulate and demonstrate healthy kitchen gardening activities in urban and peri-urban areas of Smart City Bhubaneswar on fresh, cheaper, healthy and pesticide free vegetables at home level with active involvement of family members.
