'Roman script will keep India united'

The Freethought Party of India on Saturday advocated that use of Roman script and Arabic numerals can keep all States, including Odisha, united and people would not demand creation of separate provinces on language basis.

“We can keep Odisha united and make it prosperous by having Roman script and Arabic numerals in place of Odia/ Telugu/ Kui/ Santali/Hindi/ Kosali/Bengali. It will help all the students of Odisha and also of India to have their mastery over English, the language which is the storehouse of all knowledge,” said FPI general secretary B Ramchandra CST Voltaire at a seminar held to mark Bradlaugh Jayanti.

He said as many as 490 crores of people are using Roman script worldwide while studying or writing in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Malay-Indonesian, German, Turkish, Vietnamese, Italian, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, latin etc. “Odia script is only being used by little over 2 core Indians. Time has come to remove all these time - consuming unnecessary expensive identities. We all must be closer to English and each one of us must have at least mastery over a particular branch of knowledge in order to live a decent life,” he opined.

The FPI leader too emphasised on putting all children from early childhood in Prayerless Quality English Medium Schools and bringing in the Swiss form of election and governance system at all levels from gram panchayat to country level.

He also opined that there should be a Global Government in place of the present UN on basis of Swiss system of governance by direct proportional system of election.
