Roida mines mishap: Two labourers killed

Published on:

While many private mines owners are neglecting the safety aspects of the mines; the Government owned mines are not serious about the issue either.

This has come to light when two labourers Sameera Karua (63) and Damayanti Oram ( 42), residents of nearby village of Kolharoida near Bhadrasahi died in the mines as a water tank of the tractor No. OD - 09E - 4856  overturned in the Roida mines under IDC - a State Government undertaking on Friday morning.

The local police of Barbil have registered a case and the driver is absconding.

Gurubox Singh Alluwalia , local  Congress leader alleged that vehicles should be allowed in the mines after proper verification of safety standard set by the DGMS ( Director General of Mines Safety) but no such rules are followed by mines management and there is also rampant violation of safety rules in the Roida mines.

He demanded proper compensation to the next of the kin of the deceased and proper  legal action against the officials /persons for negligence of duty.
