While passing judgment in a murder and robbery case, District Judge RN Mishra awarded life term for an accused here on Wednesday.
The accused Dwarikanath Sethy alais Mitu, a resident of Ochinda village under Machhagaon Panchayat in Balikuda area, had attacked deceased Sanjukta Rath who hailed from the same village on March 12, 2013 night with a bamboo stick and an iron rod for robbing her gold ornaments. Injured Sanjukta in critical condition had died at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
A Crime Branch probe had been ordered by the Chief Minister responding to massive public outcry to nab the culprit. The CB had arrested Mitu and recovered the ornaments from him.
The District Judge Court here after reviewing witnesses of 19 persons and dying declaration of deceased Sanjukta announced the judgement.
