A joint eviction squad on Friday bulldozed encroachments on a roadside at the Jarapada Ganesh Mandap Square near the special jail under the laxmisagar police station here.
The team consisting of BDA and BMC officials and the Commissionerate Police demolished two concrete houses, six AC-sheeted houses, two wooden cabins, about 15 temporary roof houses and a vehicle parking boundary wall.
However, due to mechanical problem of excavator, the eviction drive could not be completed while the rest encroachments would be cleared on a different day, said a BDA official. A platoon of gents APR Force, a section lady Force and OSSF personnel were engaged at the site to maintain law and order. BDA Enforcement Officer Pramod Patro, liasioning Officer Subhransu Sekhar Mohanty and BMC Assistant Enforcement Commissioner Mulla Mahamad Ali were present during the eviction.
