Kudgunderpur gram panchayat, an island in the Mahanadi down Sambalpur, was treated as a cutoff zone earlier as it was surrounded by the river from all sides. But the present Government honouring the long demand of the people, constructed a bridge to the island that has been completed recently and people have started using it.
Kudgunderpur has also been taken up as the MP Adarsha Gram where lot of developmental works are to be undertaken. But the roads inside the GP comprising six big villages are in dilapidated condition for which the villagers are yet to get the real benefit of the new bridge. However, the Works Department has started improving the connecting roads to the bridge and Dhankauda block authorities are also reshaping some roads to make it usable.
But the other important problem is poor mobile connectivity whose necessity is felt more now for all purposes. “Since the village is declared as an Adarsha Grama, lots of things are to be done in digital process, but poor network comes in its way,” alleged the villagers.
The MP has also sanctioned Rs 20 lakh for different developmental works in the villages. But this is quite insufficient to its requirements and he should allot more funds as it comes under MP Adarsha Grama, they demanded.
However, it is learnt that a few public toilets, a Kalyan Mandap, and renovation of old roads have been undertaken by the block recently for the convenience of the people. “But the main demand of the people for a bridge has been completed and that is a great work for the people of the six villages,” informed BDO of Dhankauda BK Hati.
“We are aware of the mobile network problem and this will also be solved soon,” he added.
