The Works Department would henceforth execute and maintain road projects on public-private partnership (PPP) mode across the State.

This was informed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at a meeting held at the Secretariat here on Friday.

The construction and maintenance projects which include major roads, flyovers and railway over bridges would be taken up on PPP mode as per four models including BOT (Toll), BOT (Toll Annuity), BOT (Annuity Hybrid) and OMT Model (Toll).

It has been estimated that Rs6,111 crore would be spent for construction and maintenance works.

“The Government has set the target for construction of a 27 km road and 3 km flyover  under the BOT model. A total of Rs395 crore will be spent for the project’s management and maintenance. Rs22.8 crore will be paid to the construction firm for the project in 15 years,” the Chief Minister informed. The completed projects will be managed and maintained under OMT model (Toll) in which 212 km long three road projects would be constructed at an expenditure of Rs78.5 crore. Similarly, many other projects would be taken up under the other two models, officials said.
