About one km road from Jagannath temple to Uttarachandi temple is the most-affected one in Athagarh sub-divisional headquarters town with the concerned departments casting blind eye to it.

The locals of Uparsahi have met the district Collector and local Sub-Collector several times to vent their grievance, but nothing has been to repair the stretch of road.Under the leadership of Jnanaranjan Mohapatra, an advocate of the locality, the youths alleged that the local NAC made false bills several times in the name of its renovation.

Manoranjan Mohapatra, a social activist, has told this paper that the road has not been repaired in last 23 years. As the road is connected to Maa Uttarachandi shrine where people in large numbers go for darshan and picnic, it has a lot of importance. Besides, it is the shortest way for Basudevpur villagers to communicate with Athagarh town for medical and other purposes and hundreds of commuters use the road daily. Still the authorities have not taken care to repair the road which is now filled with ditches and got damaged at several places. Notably, two primary schools Government Town ME School and Mahamaya Public School are located by the road. In the last UlB polls, the candidates of this ward had promised to renovate the road but later, nothing tangible has happened.

The youths of the area recently have sent their grievance to the Chief Minister online and threatened to hold stir before the NAC office if the road is not repaired soon.
