A bridge over a rivulet at Dhobaninal on Athagarh-Narasinghpur State Highway-65 caved in on Thursday, causing traffic disruptions on the route. The Works Department has ordered an inquiry to ascertain the cause of bridge collapse.
The Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the department said stringent action would be taken against the contractor and the Junior Engineer for low-quality construction of the bridge. A diversion road would be provided within 24 hours, he added.
