Rampant land grab in Bargarh city has been a prime cause of congestion and traffic problem in the city.
A two-lane construction work of Bargarh-Bheden road is in progress. However, encroachment of land has been a big impediment for the project. The road work between private bus stand to Tora could not be take off due to this.
Meanwhile , though late, the administration has started removing the encroachments.
But it is discussed that the administration will face a herculean task while lifting the encroachment from Lengu Mishra Chhak to Lamba building through Jeera river.
The road has been occupied by hundreds of residential houses and shops because of which traffic jam is a major problem here. After the Jeera river bridge connecting Amapali to Bargarh is completed, it will ease much of the traffic woe in the city.
In addition, drains are also clogged and at several places encroached in the city. As a result, in normal rain, drains are flooded and unable to release water. Due to blockage of drains, low-lying areas of the city witness submergence problem.
In summer season also, drain water flows over areas like ManglaJhupdiPada, KhanurTikra, BishiPada,BanduTikra,ShibanandNagar,Danikata, College Road Pada and NadiPada due to blockages.
The piling of sand and concrete on main roads also block drains. People have built houses by covering the main drainage gate. So the intellectuals have demanded that all illegal constructions be removed.
