In a major jolt to the ruling BJD here, the arrangement for a meeting of primary teachers of the Athagarh Assembly constituency at the Dhabaleswar ITI Institute in Radhadamodarpur of Khuntuni area was foiled by Returning Officer (RO) Madhusudan Mishra here on Sunday afternoon.
According to sources, local BRCC and CRC had called an urgent meeting of all the primary teachers of the Assembly segment on Sunday at 2 pm for address of the local MlA.
Accordingly almost all teachers with their uniforms reached the venue thinking it a Government sponsored meeting. When the news spread, opposite party leaders lodged a complaint with the Returning Officer that the ruling party MlA was violating poll code by arranging the meeting of the teachers. Soon the RO sent a team to the spot. Somehow, video recording of the proceeding reached the RO. When he was readying to raid the spot, the teachers who had assembled there fled from the spot, even a few of them through corn fields in order to escape action against them.
The RO told this paper that video clippings would be sent to Cuttack Collector Girish SN for taking a decision on action to be taken against the teachers. Meanwhile, Congress candidate Bichitrananda Muduli requested the Collector to take stringent action against the culprits who violated poll code.
