A Group-D employee of Railways was arrested and forwarded to court by the Sundargarh police on Monday for allegedly luring five youths to engage them as Travelling Ticket Examiners (TTEs) in the Railways and taking from them `12 lakh about two and a half years ago. The youths after coming to know that they have been ditched, had recently lodged a complaint against the railway employee.
Sudesh lohar (42), a native of Jareikela under the Manoharpur police station of Jharkhand works as a railway Class-D employee at Birmitrapur in Odisha’s Sundargarh district. Touting himself as an upper class railway employee, he had befriended some local unemployed youths. He allegedly told the youths that he had excellent rapport with top railway officials and could engage them as TTEs.
lohar had asked the youths to give him `2.50 lakh each. He assured them that they would get their jobs by August 2014. When they did not get jobs, they demanded their money back, but lohar did not return the money. So, the youths lodged an FIR with the police.
Police have not, however, been able to recover the money from lohar, who is maintaining that another person who was with him had taken the money.\\
