With problems of narrow road faced by the Jharsuguda township, the city dwellers have been giving proposals frequently for construction of a road on railway land. But the demand could not be taken with sincerity by the Railway Department till date.
However, on Tuesday, South Eastern Railway General Manager PS Mishra during his tour to Jharsuguda showed keen interest for construction of a road over railway land for public use.
As the land to be used belongs to Chakradharpur Division of SE Railway and Sambalpur Division of East Coast Railway, both the DRMs were requested to take early action on joint inspection.
GM Mishra during his annual tour to Jharsuguda paid attention to other important matters. In the coming five years, the total picture of Jharsuguda will be changed, he said.
The Railway is going to construct a new over bridge, renovate old buildings and develop infrastructure for modernisation of the station.
Mishra inaugurated various projects of the railway station and staff colony on the occasion. Jharsuguda MLA Naba Kishore Das discussed with GM Mishra on a 22- point charter of demands like playground, over bridge, Kalyan Mandap, stoppage of express and superfast trains, beautification of station, renovation of quarters and refreshment aspects etc.
A memorandum was given to the GM by the Jharsuguda Chamber of Commerce and Industries. On the occasion, Hiralal Lokchandani, Raghumani Patel, Ramesh Gandhi, Pintu Padhi, Sidhharth Sarkar, Tejraj Sahoo, Balgobinda Mishra and Sarita Agrawal participated in a discussion with Mishra.
