Rly level-crossing woe: B'swar locals threaten stir

Published on:

The residents of Bampada have threatened to stage a rail roko on February 12 demanding a flyover at a railway level-crossing. They stated that the railway gate at Angargadia level-crossing remains close for not less than 8 hours a day in view of traffic rush on the SE railway route. This is causing great inconveniences for the locals travelling on the road as they have to be stopped near the gate most often. They demanded construction of either a flyover or an underpass for the flow of traffic on road.

They said that the level-crossing connected almost all industries of the district, including Birla Tyres, IOCl and BPCl and HPCl depots situated in Somnathpur. There are several other industrial units such as Neelachalc concrete, Neelachal transformers and go downs of Central Warehousing and RCMS. The other important establishments which  are connected  on the route are Vigilance SP office  for five districts , SE rural works circle , Settlement zonal office and several other ITI , diploma  and other educational institutions. Above all, the importance and traffic on the route would further enhance with the establishment of a proposed Government medical college and hospital and an AIIMS satellite centre.

The Bampada Suraksha Manch submitted a memorandum to the district Collector in this connection on Monday justifying the need for a flyover or underpass.
