Condemning the report submitted by the 7th Central Pay Commission for allegedly neglecting railway engineers, the East Coast Railway Engineers’ Association (ECoREA) has warned that around 80,000 railway engineers would launch cease-work agitation onDecember 1 and 2.

ECoREA president Bobin Mohanty alleged that the report is erroneous and favorable to officers at highest level only. Instead of focusing on core employees of any department, it recommended arbitrarily.

Mohanty alleged “We had a meeting with the Commission in Kolkata in January this year. The chairman had assured to give justice by giving Group-B status and good pay structures with perks. But the commission has betrayed us”.

All India Railway Engineers Federation President Sanjib Kumar alleged that employees sitting in air conditioned rooms without having any connection with the movement of trains or safety are being given good pay structure and career progress. He warned that the dream project of bullet train would be affected badly due to the negligence to railway engineers.
