The State Government on Friday accorded corporation status to Rourkela city.
A notification to this effect was issued by the Housing and Urban Development Department on Friday.
According to the notification, three more panchayats, Jhadataranga, Jagada and Nabakrushna Nagar, have been brought under the jurisdiction of Rourkela Municipal Corporation.
With the addition of these three panchayats, a decision will be taken for creation of more wards soon, official sources said. The
newly-formed corporation has a total of 33 wards at present.
