R'kela BJD group conflict continues unabated

BJD’s image has taken a beating in Sundargarh district due to group conflict and lack of cohesion in various frontal organisations.

Instead of learning from the poll debacle in the district, the leaders are still busy in blame game and conflict. Already, the conflict between the two frontal organisation leaders Minati Debta (Mahila wing president) and Prakash Paswan (Youth BJD leader) has created much unease for the party. The two leaders had to ultimately land in jail.

Now, it is the turn is of Youth wing president Sanib Nayak. On Thursday, the followers of Debta lodged an FIR in Sector-3 Police Station that they were ill-behaved by Nayak on June 14 while staging demonstration in Sector-2 Biju Patnaik Chowk. The FIR was lodged 10 days after the incident. The spot where the incident took place as mentioned by the women is just fifty metres away and clearly visible from Sector-3 Police Station.

However, neither the victims took the help of the police nor lodged complaint on the same day. As it is a political issue, the police are also reluctant to give any statement on it.

It is to be mentioned here that after the tussle between Debta and Paswan, many BJD youth and women leaders including Nayak had staged demonstration in front of Sector-19 police station demanding the arrest of Debta on the basis of Paswan’s FIR and later Debta was arrested. Secondly Sanjib Nayak is known as the staunch follower of former Rourkela MlA Sarada Nayak and Debta has fallen out with Nayak.

Thirdly after Debta’s follower staging the demonstration on July 14 against their leader’s arrest, Nayak and his followers cleaned the Biju Patnaik statue with Ganga water.  So now, all eyes on the Sector-3 police’s action.
