The Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) office here said it had not received copies of the petitions of four cases of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and one case of the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC). All the cases have been filed by Supreme Court lawyer and rights activist Radhakanta Tripathy. The cases filed in the NHRC relate to the problems of Chandbali, Bhandaripokhri and Dhamra Primary Health Centers. The OHRC case relates to lack of anti-snake venom in the District Headquarters Hospital.
In its letter no 3414, 3415 and 3417 of 2016, the CDMO has requested the Deputy Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department to supply the copies of the petitions of the cases along with the enclosures. Pertinent to mention here the District Administration of Bhadrak has opened up a special cell to monitor human rights cases after the cases were filed by Tripathy.
