The rift in State Congress became prominent on Monday as PCC president Prasad Harichandan and senior leader Bhakta Das sparred over appointment of Gobardhan Das as the Kalahandi district Congress president.
Bhakta Das expressed his resentment stating that he had not been consulted by Harichandan for the appointment of Gobardhan Das as district president. “It is disappointing that the PCC president took the decision without consulting me. Appointment of Das is a conspiracy to weaken the party organisation in Kalahandi,” Das had told mediapersons at Bhawanipatna on Sunday.
On Monday, Harichandan countering Das’s charge said it was not appropriate on the part of Das to divulge party things before the media. He Gobardhan Das was appointed after consultations with party’s concerned senior leaders. Going a step ahead, Das told reporters that he has the right to raise any issue that would affect party and even he can resort to a fast-unto-death for streamlining party activities.
