The inhabitants of Odisha’s richest district, Keonjhar, continue to remain as the poorest people and is this what Naveen Patnaik’s BJD claims to be doing development of the State, Narendra Modi asked in an election meeting here on Friday.
During his 45-minute speech, Modi targeted both the Congress and the BJD for their non-performance. Beginning his speech in Odia, he said he was fortunate to be on the pious land of sacred river Baitarani and Goddess Maa Tarini.
But he was unhappy to see that the inhabitants of the minerals-richest district are the poorest without basic necessities like food, shelter, road, electricity, water, irrigation and jobs. He said Keonjhar is only a reflection of the failure which exposes the truth about the BJD Government.
Blaming both the BJD and Congress to have joined hands in the multi-crore mining scam, he alleged that these parties have only looted the State in all respects instead of focusing on development.Citing the number of farmers’ suicide in Keonjhar district, he said neither the Congress nor the BJD has moral ground to come to power again.
Odisha would also witness changes for the better once the BJP comes to power both in the State and at the Centre, he said, adding that it is high time that an end was brought to family politics in Odisha and at the Centre. The winning prospects of Keonjhar BJP lok Sabha candidate Ananta Nayak and Keonjhar Assembly candidate Mohan Majhi appeared to have slightly improved after Modi’s visit.
