District Collector Poonam Guha Tapas Kumar has decided to restore the grievance redressal process from next Monday and shared the next six months plan up to December.
After the two-day Collectors’ conference with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Guha has decided to take the grievance redressal mechanism to all the block levels. She has also expressed her willingness to take this process further to the Gram Panchayat level through Jan Sampark Sibirs, Maha Samadhan Sibirs, IEC Melas, etc after the monsoon season.
While the 1st Monday of every month will witness the grievance hearing at the district headquarters, on other Mondays, it will be held at block headquarters in a cyclic manner. Only on two Mondays, July 11 and October 24, grievance hearing will be conducted at Gunupur Sub-Collector’s office.
“Once the grievance redressal process is decentralised, it will increase administration’s interface with the public at large. Around half of the work gets done if the grievances are heard at the field level where many of the district level officers are present. It will also decrease local people’s plight who traverse a long distance from hills like Chandrapur, Dangaria villages of Muniguda and Putasing, etc. After the grievance hour, a field visit will also be made to have a reality check of the programmes implemented in the field. As entire Rayagada district comes under lWE (left Wing Extremism) area, the scheduled date may change for interior blocks if advised by the police. But an alternative date will be fixed for the same block. As after each grievance day, a consolidated sheet is prepared for individual, group and department wise petitions, DIPRO will give a Pess release in digital form for wider circulation,” said Guha.
