In spite of a south Odisha Bandh call given by the Maoists, police personnel along with several dignitaries like Collector Rayagada Guha Punam Tapas Kumar and SP Rahul PR placed wreaths at the martyr’s memorial constructed at Reserve Police Parade Ground in Chandili.
Sub-Collector Prabir Nayak, BDO Nrusingha Charan Pattanaik, Executive Vice President(Works) PK Suri and chief of HR, JK Papers limited SK Mohapatra, Zilla Sambadika Sangha president Badal Kumar Tah, District Bharatiya Mazdur Sangha president Jogesh Das, Additional District Medical Officer, Executive Engineer(PWD) among others were present.
In 1959, 10 CRPF personnel were shot dead by the Chinese police while guarding the country at ladakh of J & K. To live their memory and\ sacrifice, this day is celebrated in the entire country. Notably, during the period 49 CRPF personnel lost their lives while on duty.
They included nine martyrs of Odisha.
