In view of the reduction of diesel prices, Transport Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi on Monday promised revised bus fares soon.
“Bus fares will be slashed very soon only after the report of the Technical Committee is examined. We are waiting for the report,” the Minister said.
Private Bus Owners’ Association general secretary Debendra Sahu said, “We have no objection to reduction of bus fare. We hope that the Government adheres to the automatic fare fixation mechanism suggested by us, which will be beneficial to us as well as the public”.
“The government should fix a certain paise rise/fall per km for every rise or fall in fuel prices, which would make it easier for change in bus fares from the next day of rise or fall of diesel prices,” he said.
