'Return registration fee for engg job fair'

Published on:

BJP leader and former Assembly Deputy Speaker Rama Chandra Panda and former Ganjam Bar Association president Bhagaban Sahu in a joint statement demanded immediate return of registration fee reportedly collected at the rate of Rs100 from each  unemployed engineering student in the State on the  pretext of providing job through job fair.

Though the Government has collected Rs100 per student as registration fee for attending a job fair six months back, no fair was organised which is quite shocking, they lamented.

The leaders further said that it is the moral responsibility of the Government to arrange job fairs at its own cost and ensure jobs to the unemployed engineering graduates in the State, as  each student after spending lakhs of rupees gets  the degree.

Instead of providing employment guarantee to the engineering graduates, the Government is exploiting them by collecting registration fee and doing nothing for them, they alleged.  They also asked the rationale behind mushroom growth of engineering colleges in the State. Panda and Sahu urged the Government to  immediately return back the registration fee to the students and an impartial inquiry into the matter.
