'Return chit fund investors' money at the earliest'

Members of Jamakari O Karmachari Suraksha Mancha on Tuesday demanded refund of deposits of investors of the State who have lost their life’s savings in the chit fund scam. The Mancha organised a seminar here to discuss the issue.

Speakers at the seminar said the Government should take action so that the small investors get back their hard-earned money. Instead of sealing the chit fund companies, the Government should auction their properties in the market value thereby facilitating return of the investors’ deposits, they said.

Mancha coordinator Bhaktabandhu Mishra said, “Our demands to the Government are to return money to the depositors and protection of the chit fund employees.

The Government should give protection to the companies which want to return the money of investors,” he added. If the Government fails to fulfil our demands at the earliest, Mancha members would resort to a fast-unto-death agitation and self-immolation in front of the offices of the Governor, the Chief Minister, the CBI and the RBI, said Mancha assistant coordinator Kalpataru Khuntia.

Among others, BJP spokesperson Samir Mohanty and vice-president Pruthwiraj Harichandan, Pradip Kumar Sahoo, Saroj Kumar Sahoo, social worker Jagadananda, advocates Niranjan Swain and Umakanta Pattanayak, Sudarshan Das, RTI activist Jayanta Das, Jayanti Padhiary also participated in the discussion.
