A group of sacked Class-IV employees of the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here staged a dharna in the hospital premises on Monday in protest against their retrenchment without notice.
They gheraoed Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) in-Charge and Additional District Medical Officer (ADMO) Sudhansu Sekhar Bal when he came to the dharna spot for discussions with them.
According to reports, 21 temporary Class-IV staffs, including attendants and sweepers, were sacked on Monday without being given any notice. They alleged that while they have been working in the hospital under the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) scheme since 2007, outsiders have been appointed for 37 vacant posts.
They also said that the district administration had earlier directed the CDMO to transfer the temporary staffs to other hospitals, but this has not happened as yet. In protest against this, the Class-IV employees had launched a strike for seven days in February. The ADMO, when asked, said the matter would be brought to the CDMO’s notice and necessary steps would be taken.
