A general body meeting of the Ganjam District Retired Government Employees’ Association was held here to discuss various problems of the pensioners. Engineer KBK Patra presided over the meeting, while its general secretary Rasbihari Das read out the annual report.
Among others, the association strongly demanded immediate implementation of the revised Dearness Allowance (DA) of 8 per cent and pension at par with the Central Government employees.
Notably, the Central Government has declared 8 per cent DA for its employees and pensioners last week, raising the existing DA from 72 to 80 per cent with effect from January this year.
The association has decided to hold its next general annual body meeting in July this year, said Patra. Former Deputy Speaker Rama Chandra Panda also in a statement demanded immediate implementation of the revised DA for the former employees.
