The Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has imposed restriction on telecast of political advertisements in the electronic media, including cable networks.
Informing about this, CEO Surendra Kumar said that advertisements of political nature can be displayed in television channels and cable networks only after getting certification from the State-Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee of the CEO’s office.
The restriction has been imposed as per the order of the Supreme Court, the official said.
However, such restrictions were earlier imposed only when the model code of conduct for election was in force.
