Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, who is himself a native of Sundargarh district, on Wednesday expressed grave concern over the deep public resentment against the inclusion of Jagda, Jhartarang, Jhirpani and other panchayats of the district in the proposed Rourkela Municipal Corporation. Oram had on Tuesday spoke at length on the issue over phone with Minister for Housing and Urban Development Puspendra Singh Deo and urged him to find an early solution to the issue.
Earlier, Oram had written to Singh Deo, saying the provisions of the Odisha Municipal Corporation Act -2003 and PESA Act 1997 could have been used for those areas which do not wish to be included under the Rourkela Municipal Corporation.
