Accepting yet another petition, the Orissa High Court has served a notice to Sundargarh MlA Jogesh Singh asking him to reply to the petitioner’s allegation that he fought the last election by producing fake caste certificates.
The court has fixed September 15 as the next hearing date. Ajay Patel, a voter of the constituency, has filed the petition. While Sundargarh Assembly Seat is reserved for ST, Singh has been getting elected since 2009 by submitting fake caste certificates, Patel alleged in the petition and urged the court to cancel Singh’s win in the last election.
It may be noted here that defeated BJP candidate Sahadev Khakha has already challenged the authenticity of Singh’s caste certificate in the High Court and the latter has also served notice on him. In the last election, Congress candidate Singh won the seat getting 66,138 votes whereas BJD candidate Kusum Tete emerged second with 53,544 votes. BJP candidate had got 27,935 votes.
