Even as the members of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) core committee on Monday began inspecting the Nata Mandap (Dance Hall) of the Shree Jagannath Temple at Puri, the ASI submitted an affidavit in the Orissa High Court here on the day stating that the ongoing repair works of at least six adjacent temples located in the main temple premises in Puri are on the verge of completion.
The ASI core committee began its three-day inspection of the Nata Mandap after it was reported that the repaired hall still had defects in it as it was leaking during heavy rains, which Puri witnessed earlier this month. Experts from IIT Chennai and IIT Kharagpur will also join the ASI team on Tuesday and Wednesday to inspect the structure.
On the other hand, as directed, the ASI also submitted an affidavit in the HC stating that the repair works of the cracked six temples in the main temple premises are going on in a war footing manner. “The repair works will end very soon,” the affidavit said. The affidavit also mentioned about the inspection of the Nata Mandap, which began on Monday.
