'Renovate Prakasham Hall or face protest'

Published on:

The Odisha Telugu Yuva Sammukhya has demanded immediate completion of repair and renovation work of Prakasham Hall in the city failing which its members would stage agitation in front of Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BMC) office.

Though an allocation of Rs25 lakh from the Brahmapur MP and MlA’s local area development funds was given to BMC to carry out the repair and renovation work of the hall in 2005, nothing tangible has happened as yet.

Sammukhya secretary general M Venkatramana further alleged that the though the Aandhra Bhasa Bibardhan Samaj, a union of Telugu speaking people, has been assigned to carry out the renovation work, it does nothing except looting the funds meant for hall development.

Submitting a memorandum to the BMC Commissioner Dr Ajit Kumar Mishra, Venkatramana demanded that a high level probe be conducted into the financial irregularities committed by the Aandhra Bhasa Bibardhan Samaj. Meanwhile, the Samaj blamed the BMC for not releasing the funds for the purpose resulting in steady work progress.
