The Remuna Degree College which was formed barely
25 years ago by a handful of enthusiastic people has obtained B++
grade of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council(NAAC)
recently.
A three-member NAAC team after a two days’ visit headed by Prof
Pampa Mukharjee of Punjab University had assessed the institution.
The
gradation is valid for next five years from May 10, 2022.
The team evaluated on a seven- point scale. The college obtained 2.96
CGPA falling short by only 0.04 to achieve ‘A’ grade, said former
founding president of the college Pradipta Panda.
“It is indeed a matter of pride that the Government aided college in
662- category could achieve the grade and enhanced its merit from
previous mark 2.8 CGPA to 2.96 CGPA. The college is now equipped
with all infrastructure, including an e- library having over 1lakh
books, a
gymnasium, a primary healthcare system, a playground and hostels
for
both boys and girls,” said Panda, who is also a former MLA .
“The college sprawling over 7 acres of land in Remuna has three
streams, including Arts, Science and Commerce, having seats of 256,
256 and 48 respectively. The college has registered its prominence in
the district due to its infrastructure, quality education and
extracurricular activities,” said Principal Prof Jayanti Nayak.
