Remuna BJD MLA Sudhansu Sekhar Parida has been issued with summons to appear before the JMFC on October 21 in connection with an alleged cheating case. The court acted on a complaint filed by petitioner Tanmay Mohanty, a resident of village Ranasahi under the Chandipur police limits who alleged that about `13 lakh was taken by Parida from him and the money has not been returned to him despite repeated requests. According to Mohanty, he in 2018 had given `12 lakh initially to buy a harvester from Parida, who is the proprietor of Nigamananda Associates. Parida didn’t give him the harvester and Mohanty demanded the money back. After repeated requests, he returned `5 lakh. Again, Parida took `6 lakh from Mohanty before the general elections in 2019.

After Parida was elected as MLA, Mohanty approached him several times to return the money taken from him. But he never returned the money. Mohanty subsequently approached police and lodged a complaint with the Sadar police.

But failing to get any relief from police, Mohanty moved the court. The court taking cognisance of the matter under Sections 417,419 and 420 of IPC has issued summons to Parida for his appearance.
