The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission (EC) requesting for withdrawal of all Government hoardings with Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik’s pictures on them as they are violating the model code of conduct.
AAP State convener Nishikant Mohapatra in the memorandum to the State’s Chief Electoral Officer stated that the posters are illegal as they give publicity to the BJD at Government’s cost. “Though the model code of conduct prohibits installation of hoardings and banners highlighting Government schemes and development work carried out by the ruling party, we found such illegal hoardings all over the city”, party leader Mohapatra wrote in the memorandum.
Mohapatra also wrote that the hoardings should have been removed immediately after the poll dates were announced. But the ruling party has not abided by the guidelines for oblivious reasons. The party is misusing power and Government machinery, he alleged.
“We hope the posters will be removed immediately after Election Commission’s intervention”, said Mohapatra.
