Since the launch of free ambulance in the State, the expectation for availing this service is found high among people.
Though the call centre headquarters at Bhubaneswar works round the clock to provide free ambulance service in time bound period to the needy and emergency patients, sometimes the ambulance fails to reach due various reasons. The main reason is poor road connectivity and another is referral case.
In most of the districts, the ambulances could not reach to the patients in remote area due poor road condition. As most of the ambulance found busy in carrying patients to main hospitals from far away remote places at that moment a needy patient fails to avail the ambulance. This creates an unpleasant situation in the area. Sometimes people ransack the ambulances and attack the crew members without having any genuine reason.
One ambulance per one lakh population was given to Odisha and total 420 ambulances have been provided to the State. “As the expectation for 108 ambulance is found increasing day by day, the Government is planning to increase the number of ambulance soon,” says Odisha Project head,108 ambulance, Odisha Sabyasachi Biswal.
