A team of BJP leaders on Thursday met the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) Chairman and urged him to reject the distribution companies’ (discoms) power tariff proposals in the interest of common people.
The team argued that the proposal of the four discoms for increasing power tariff on the plea of meeting losses is not at all justified when the fee was hiked only four months back. “Various Government departments, NACs and municipalities owe a total Rs 413 crore to the discoms. Without paying the dues, the State Government is putting loads on the consumers,” alleged the leaders. Among others, party vice-president Sameer Mohanty, general secretaries Bhrugu Baxipatra and Prithviraj Harichandan, secretaries Dillip Mallick, lekhashree Samantsinghar and spokesperson Dillip Mohanty met the commission.
