A physically-challenged widow has knocked at the door of the Chief Minister for justice. Her husband died on a farm land under sizzling sun in June, 2017 and she has not got compensation yet despite running from pillar to post for last four years.
She narrated her plight of ‘to and fro' travel from far-off Balanga village to Puri many a time since 2017 with her disabled condition but ultimately to no gain. Earlier, she had also sent a letter to the Chief Secretary. The widow suffers a locomotive disability.
The letter to the CM sent by widow Nila Behera of Sangaon village under Balanga police limits reads that in June 2017, her husband, Banchha, suddenly fell ill while working on a farmland. Soon afterthe incident, he was taken to a local hospital where the doctor declared him brought dead. Balanga police recovered the body and sent to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem. The doctor in charge of autopsy mentioned the death due to heatstroke.
On a report of local Tehsildar, the Mangalpur CHH has already issued a death certificate in favour of the deceased. As per the Government provision for heatstroke death, the nearest ofthe deceased will get compensation of Rs 50,000.
What worries most is that since then, the disabled widow has been roaming from office to office in Puri for compensation with the help of his lone son, who was also found physically disabled in an accident.
