In the absence of any reply to the show-cause notice it had issued, the Cuttack district administration on Thursday cancelled the registration of the Cuttack Nagar Yuvak Sangha, a social organisation floated by Sushil Dhalsamant, who was arrested in January on several charges of murder, kidnap and extortion. Sushil was the president of the Sangha.
Basing on an adverse police report, ADM laxmidhar Mohanty cancelled the registration Section 12-D of Societies Registration Act-1860.
The Commissionerate Police in a report to the district administration last month had alleged that the Sangha, instead of doing social work, was promoting criminal activities. “The members of the organisation were involved in murder, murder threat, collecting extortion money at gunpoint, tender-fixing and illegal mining activities,” said the police report.
