Even as eight years have passed since the Regional Imbalance Inquiry Committee headed by retired HC Judge SK Mohanty submitted its report on August 6, 2008, the sub-committee comprising Secretaries of 11 departments is still scrutinising it and, hence, the report has not been published.
This was revealed from the information furnished by Planning and Convergence Minister Usha Devi in the Assembly in response to a question of BJP MlA Dilip Ray.
The Minister informed the Government had formed the Regional Imbalance Committee on February 20, 2004, and the Committee submitted its report on August 6, 2008. The then Planning and Coordination Department formed a sub-committee headed by the Development Commissioner in October 2008 to examine the report. Since then, the sub-committee has met four times and is still sructinizing it. The committee report has not been published as the sub-committee is still scrutising it, the Minister said.
