'Refrain from blaming cops over K'mal issue'

The Havildar, Constable and Sepoy Confederation, Odisha has expressed its deep resentment over political parties holding police responsible for the Kandhamal cops-Maoist crossfire that claimed life of five tribal villagers.

Confederation president Prashant Mohapatra said it was very disappointing that various political parties and organisations were holding the police completely responsible for the incident without any impartial inquiry. This would break the willpower of the police, he lamented.

“The Maoist issue is not the problem of police alone. It is a problem for every person living in the society. Police are tackling the issue putting their lives at risk. Many police personnel and innocent tribals have died after being hit by bullets of Maoists. But unfortunately, no political party or organisation even mourns their death,” said confederation general secretary Kishore Mohanty.

The confederation demanded an impartial probe into the Kandhamal incident and appealed to everyone not to give “reckless” comments holding police responsible for the incident.
